ARTIST R. DASH'S GARDEN

There's no shortage of lovely gardens in the Hamptons. East End of Long Island is famous for it's quiet beauty & light. But Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack, is truly special. This 2 acres garden is created by artist Rober Dash over a span of 50 years, using the earth as his canvas!

Hornbeam Bower, six little leaf hornbeam trees that have been trained into a bower in the Dutch manner.

Dash's remarkable sense of color & the way he inserted accents was unique. He revealed structure that others did not see.

Good examples of how architectural form can define a garden in all seasons.

Love this path formed with sliced telephone poles!

Eduard Manet said that mauve is the color of the atmosphere.

Gingko grove: a sculptural stand of fastigiate gingko & boxwood balls make for a wonderful modernist composition.
