BREEZY SUMMER PASTEL
Making the most of the outdoor. Another spontaneous plein air sketch, trying to capture the joy & beauty of a summer garden. I probably cant duplicate the breezy informality of this quick pastel, something about painting outside... ![]() |

FANTASY BIRTHDAY DESIGN
No 2 designs ever start out the same way. Came upon this old sketch. It's only a few lines, but it still holds my interest after all these years. I needed an excuse to get back to playing with my watercolor. By the time I'm done, this flower fairy takes on a life of its own. ![]() |

I explore it further with some edits on photoshop. I did not set out to design a birthday greeting. By adding the balloons, it makes for a lovely magical birthday card, or a festive birthday invite.

WORK IN PROGRESS-FAIRY
Kind of stuck with my current flower fairy. Sometimes I can only carry the painting so far. The focus is just not there. This is when photoshop can really help me get creative. I scan in the fairy watercolor & started to play with what I have. Just trying out different combinations for this sunflower fairy…I have a lot of floral patterns & butterflies in my archive to play with!Wednesday, April 30, 2014
