I started a new collection, inspired by my New England coastal visit. But this is another project that has been a long time in the making. Procrastination is define as delay or postpone action. In my case, there's always something else that's putting me off on the process of staying focus. Well, here's some bits & pieces, definitely work in progress...

HONEYSUCKLE ILLUSTRATION

This is the last of my honeysuckle, till next year … a very fragrant illustration!

HAND PAINTED SCRIPT

Despite the many tools on photoshop

 ,nothing beats the look of something that's hand drawn. After initial doodling, I'm cutting & pasting various size zerox to see how it all fits together. Many layouts were toss out, before I apply colors to this script. The last step to my new design is created on photoshop. I layer the hand painted script on top of my rose illustration.

MADONNA & CHILD

With tons of sketchbooks full of ideas, it takes a bit of serendipity to actually decide on a new project for 2015. My best friend's daughter just had a beautiful boy. It's special enough for me to sit down & start doodling. Borrowing from a classic theme, I'm approaching this Madonna & Child with more structure than my informal impressionistic works. 

Been refining the composition in a series of sketches. I use parallel strokes & cross hatching to add more life to this quiet study. With my aging eyesight, I wonder if I can still do figure painting.

MADONNA & CHILD

Well, started this MADONNA & CHILD sketch before the baby is born. Baby Aiden is now 3 months old, thought I better work on baby Jesus before baby goes to college.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Easy to start a painting, tough to finish one. To be an artist, we are curse with self critical eye. I've learn to lay my projects out in a open table. As long as it is out in the open, it will be done. If not this month, then, next month.

Project for the day, getting a head start on summer with this SUNFLOWER flower fairy.

ON MY DESK

I like to paint in 4 different directions. It's true what they say...by looking at a painting in another way, it can show me what I need to do. The butterflies I collected from the roadside will come in handy today.
