Nantucket Ramblings

New England has tons of beautiful destinations. Nantucket, MA remains top on my list, especially in the off season. This pristine whaling town just exudes calm & elegance, as soon as you step off the ferry. The combination of easy biking, historic houses, cottage gardens, endless beaches, shops & great restaurants keep me coming back.

The hobbit-like cottages of Siasconset is straight out of a fairytale. Infact, these adorable beach cottages are the inspirations for my logo.

SEASIDE COLLECTION

I started a new collection, inspired by my New England coastal visit. But this is another project that has been a long time in the making. Procrastination is define as delay or postpone action. In my case, there's always something else that's putting me off on the process of staying focus. Well, here's some bits & pieces, definitely work in progress...

COASTAL CHARCOAL SKETCH

Another version of painting seascape. Drawing with a kneaded eraser on tone paper is definitely my mature way of drawing. You can see that SEURET's drawings influence my penchant for abstraction.

MAGIC HOUR

As Ralph W Emerson noted, nature leaves us "perpetual observation, perpetual acquiescence & perpetual thankfulness.'

COASTAL ROSES

A real fine summer day. If one cant be lucky enough to be living on the water with a rose garden...spending time by the water to paint it is the next best thing on a fine day.

PASTEL NOCTURNE

The end of Steamboat Rd is an easy detour. The sky & Long Island Sound offers me endless inspirations to fill my sketchbook. Even if I dont have enough time to finish a sketch, I bring the memory back to my studio.

L I SOUND

Due to the chilly breeze from L.I. Sound, enormous serenity at Tod's Point. Not a soul or pet on the beach. I like this new white filbert from Blick Scholastic series. Just the right size for dabs of clouds & highlights for the wave. A regular 2B pencil works well over the oil sketch.
