I started a new collection, inspired by my New England coastal visit. But this is another project that has been a long time in the making. Procrastination is define as delay or postpone action. In my case, there's always something else that's putting me off on the process of staying focus. Well, here's some bits & pieces, definitely work in progress...

SEASCAPE

Buddle up for this last chance to do some painting by the water...

SEASCAPE-OIL

Another way to paint the sea... study of lapping waves on a sunny shore. Impressionistic mosaic of soft blue & purplish blue, along with some lavender & white.

COASTAL CHARCOAL SKETCH

Another version of painting seascape. Drawing with a kneaded eraser on tone paper is definitely my mature way of drawing. You can see that SEURET's drawings influence my penchant for abstraction.

Balancing beach walks & work...anytime I can be in nature, looking at stars, feeling ocean air, & a little painting makes for a grand day!

SUMMER SUNRISE

Sometimes, my ramblings are very well plan. Catching the right lighting is a big part of my painting process. Other times, inspiration to get my sketchbook out is pure serendipity with a bit of luck.

BRUCE MUSEUM, CT

Took another look at American Impressionist Landscape at the Bruce Museum, before the exhibit close. Prints are fine, but one really need to see the original painting to get a sense of what an artist tries to convey. From studying a close up of how Childe Hassam paints sea scape, I packed my oil & head over to Greenwich Point Park. An unusually fine day to be painting by the water.

It's a good day if I can balance work with play. Always enjoy a nice brisk beach walk. I can see & absorb more if there's plenty of peace & quiet. I'm using this blue to try to convey the cold metalic quality of the water.
