Small Town Library

My gypsy life style offers me endless opportunities for lovely inspirations. But sometimes, I dont have to go far for a change of scenery. The breezy porch at Schoharie Free Library is a fine spot on a summer afternoon with a book.

SUMMER COLORS OF MOHONK MT HOUSE

Another one from Mohonk Mountain House. The sketch always seems to come out better when I'm playing with paints outdoor on a fine day. I think our state of mind can influence our physical condition & our bodies can affect our spirit.

BUCOLIC BEAUTY

Another attempt to sketch the intangible. Delighting in what i can do with just paper, graphite & kneaded eraser.

Due to the light, the scene changes every hour. Sometimes one needs to bring on some colors to emphasis the mood.

Just a few strokes of green & blues does the trick to convey a soft afternoon along the Connecticut River. Do click on link to see more images.

SEASIDE COLLECTION

I started a new collection, inspired by my New England coastal visit. But this is another project that has been a long time in the making. Procrastination is define as delay or postpone action. In my case, there's always something else that's putting me off on the process of staying focus. Well, here's some bits & pieces, definitely work in progress...

NAUTICAL SKETCH

For this sketch by the water, my quest for color is the starting point. I'm trying to convey a cloudy & humid summer day with purple & aqua. The fact that this was done in a sketchbook, means I can be loose & not fuzz with the painting. Sometimes we learn more by not getting attach to our work.

BEACH SCENE

A fine beach day. I started the sketch as a small watercolor on the beach. The detail was added after I got home. Perfect souvenir of a lovely summer day.

SUMMER PORCH

Connecticut has many  quaint towns. Homes with porches are the most satisfying way to spend one's time. The arbor makes it feel like a private oasis.
